The Strategy embeds gender equality into every aspect of life, online and offline.\u00a0It turns the\u00a0objectives\u00a0of the\u00a0Commission\u2019s\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/policies\/justice-and-fundamental-rights\/gender-equality\/roadmap-womens-rights_en\">Roadmap for Women&#8217;s&nbsp;Rights<\/a>\u00a0that was\u00a0endorsed in 2025 by all\u00a0EU countries, into concrete actions <strong>to\u202fempower women and girls<\/strong>,\u202f<strong>engage men and boys<\/strong>, vigorously\u202f<strong>oppose any backtracking on fundamental rights,<\/strong>\u202fand\u202f<strong>accelerate progress towards a<\/strong>\u202f<strong>truly gender-equal Europe<\/strong>.\u00a0The Strategy is available at this <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/policies\/justice-and-fundamental-rights\/gender-equality\/gender-equality-strategy_en\">link.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>main areas\u00a0of action pursuant to the Strategy<\/strong> are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Continuing the fight against gender-based violence<\/strong> with an emphasis on fighting cyberviolence, which disproportionately impacts women and girls, with measures to combat sexually explicit deepfakes and deepnudes and improve the protection of women online.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engaging men and boys\u202fin the fight for gender equality<\/strong>, recognising\u00a0their\u00a0important role\u00a0in bringing about societal change,\u00a0focusing\u00a0on how to counter information manipulation and disinformation to avoid growing polarisation between women and men, particularly among young people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promoting the highest standards of health and healthcare systems built for all<\/strong>by\u00a0including an\u00a0initiative together with the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/\">World Health Organization<\/a>\u202fto improve the quality and accessibility of women&#8217;s&nbsp;healthcare.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Boosting prosperity by promoting gender equality across economic sectors<\/strong>with actions\u00a0to attract more women\u00a0into\u00a0research,\u00a0innovation,\u00a0startups, and\u00a0to science, technology,\u00a0engineering\u00a0and mathematics\u00a0(STEM)\u00a0careers and encourage\u00a0men to study and work in\u00a0health,\u00a0education,\u00a0administration\u00a0and\u00a0literacy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tackling the gender pay and pension gaps<\/strong>,\u202fincluding by supporting\u00a0EU countries\u00a0to fully implement the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/dir\/2023\/970\/oj\">Pay Transparency Directive<\/a>, and work with the European Investment Bank to improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs and boost female representation in the financial sector.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Taking further steps to support women&#8217;s&nbsp;equal and safe participation in politics<\/strong>including by\u00a0tackling\u00a0information manipulation and interference online which often drives polarisation between women and men.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Continuing to promote gender equality on the global stage\u202fwith<\/strong>\u00a0a new\u00a0gender\u00a0action\u00a0plan for 2028-2034,\u00a0and\u00a0a new\u00a0action\u00a0plan for\u00a0women,\u00a0peace\u00a0and\u00a0security. The EU will also launch a new flagship initiative \u2018SHIELD&#8217; which will focus on improving access to sexual and reproductive health and supporting survivors of gender-based violence.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, it is worth noting that the average unadjusted gender pay gap in the EU was 11.1% in 2024.<strong> In 2024, in the EU, Estonia and Czechia recorded the highest<\/strong> (18.8% and 18.5%) and Luxembourgh the lowest (-0.8%) <strong>gender pay gaps<\/strong> respectively, before accounting for factors that affect final pay. The gender pay gap in Czechia varies significantly by age, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Gender_pay_gap_statistics\">the Eurostat data<\/a>. Among Czech workers under 25, the difference is relatively low at 7.7 percent.<strong> It grows substantially during mid-career years, peaking at 21.6 percent among employees aged 35 to 44<\/strong> \u2014 the period when many people balance career advancement with family responsibilities. The gap narrows again among older workers, falling to 8.2 percent for those aged 65 and above. Sector differences are even more pronounced. <strong>The largest pay gaps are in finance and insurance, where women earn 35.6 percent less than men<\/strong>. The information and communications sector follows with a 28.4 percent gap, while health and social care shows a 24.9 percent difference.
