{"id":20263,"date":"2026-04-21T17:31:25","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T15:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cbcsd.cz\/?p=20263"},"modified":"2026-04-21T17:32:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T15:32:32","slug":"joint-working-group-to-develop-unified-product-level-ghg-accounting-standard-established","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cbcsd.cz\/en\/joint-working-group-to-develop-unified-product-level-ghg-accounting-standard-established\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Working Group to Develop Unified Product-Level GHG Accounting Standard Established"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Greenhouse Gas Protocol<\/strong> (<strong>\u201cGHG Protocol\u201d<\/strong>), jointly managed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and World Resources Institute (WRI), and the <strong>International Organization for Standardization <\/strong>(<strong>\u201cISO\u201d<\/strong>) have finalized a <strong>Joint Working Group<\/strong> to develop a new, <strong>harmonized global standard for product<\/strong>\u2011<strong>level greenhouse gas accounting<\/strong>. The product\u2011level standard is a central element of wider efforts to create a science\u2011aligned global system for emissions reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The new standard will<strong> build on existing frameworks<\/strong>, including ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard and PACT Methodology, while moving towards a <strong>single, unified methodology<\/strong>. The objective is to ensure <strong>continuity for companies<\/strong> already using current standards, while improving <strong>comparability, transparency and usability<\/strong> of <strong>product carbon footprint data<\/strong> across value chains.<\/p>\n<p>This development is closely linked to <strong>emerging regulatory and market requirements<\/strong>, including instruments such as the <strong>EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)<\/strong>.
