At the same time, there is a shortage of professionals who understand these issues from technical, data-driven, economic, and strategic perspectives.

The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) is therefore opening a new edition of its Sustainability Management course, focused on the practical management of sustainability without oversimplifications, myths, or marketing buzzwords. The course has been developed under the leadership of the Institute of Sustainability and Product Ecology at UCT Prague and connects topics such as raw materials, material flows, circular economy, carbon footprinting, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), environmental data, European legislation, sustainability reporting, and strategic management.

“Sustainability is no longer merely a topic for PR departments. It is becoming a matter of competitiveness, risk management, access to financing, resource availability, and the ability of companies to succeed under new regulatory and economic conditions,” says the course’s academic guarantor, Prof. Vladimír Kočí.

An important part of the course focuses on raw materials and material flows. These influence company costs, the resilience of supply chains, environmental impacts, and the transition to circular business models. The course therefore presents sustainability in a broader context — from resources and production through consumption and waste management to new business models and regulations.

The course is intended for sustainability specialists, corporate managers, consultants, public administration professionals, industry experts, and individuals involved in strategic management, innovation, material management, or environmental impacts within organizations. It is also suitable for journalists, media professionals, and communicators who need to report on sustainability accurately, critically, and without oversimplification.

“We want to demonstrate that sustainability management is primarily about working with data, understanding connections, managing raw materials and material flows, and understanding the real functioning of companies and industry,” adds the course organizer, Dr. Tatiana Trecáková.

The next edition of the course will take place from September 2026 to April 2027. The program includes 11 full-day modules, a two-day field trip, and a team project. Upon completion, participants will receive a microcredential within the ECTS system. The course also provides an opportunity to continue by taking an examination and obtaining the professional qualification Sustainability Manager.

Applications for the next edition are now open.

More information: cv.vscht.cz

Companies, institutions, and public authorities today face growing demands for responsible resource management, reducing environmental impacts, addressing carbon footprints, implementing circular economy principles, … Číst více

[52,50
