The Report is available at this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/world-energy-investment-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the IEA, the current disruptions to global energy supply chains \u2013 including the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz \u2013 represent <strong>one of the most significant energy security crises in modern history<\/strong>, prompting both governments and companies to rethink long-term investment strategies. This includes <strong>stronger focus on diversifying energy sources, trade routes, and increasing reliance on domestically available resources<\/strong>, such as renewables, nuclear energy, and other locally accessible fuels.<\/p>\n<p>Global energy investment is projected to reach approximately USD 3.4 trillion in 2026, with around USD 2.2 trillion directed towards clean energy technologies, electricity infrastructure, and electrification, compared to USD 1.2 trillion invested in fossil fuels. <strong>Electricity-related investments alone are becoming dominant, accounting for nearly 60% of total global energy spending<\/strong>, reflecting the accelerating shift towards an \u201cAge of Electricity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The report also highlights that <strong>electrification, energy efficiency, and resilient electricity systems are increasingly prioritised<\/strong>, alongside efforts to strengthen grids and storage capacity.
