The GCP is a voluntary global framework that helps companies measure, manage and communicate their circular performance and related impacts. The standard was developed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (“WBCSD“) in collaboration with the One Planet Network hosted by UNEP. GCP is available at this link.

The Czech translation is important because it makes a common language and methodology for circular economy more accessible to Czech businesses, experts, investors and public authorities. The Protocol responds to the need for greater comparability, transparency and credibility of corporate circularity claims, particularly in relation to material flows, resource efficiency, waste, recovery, climate and nature impacts, social aspects and business performance.

The GCP is the third important global sustainability standard (after the Corporate Standard GHG Protocol and the PACT Methodology for Product Emissions) that Czech BCSD has managed to publish in Czech under license from its partner WBCSD. This is not a simple machine translation, but a professional translation that is fully compatible with the official terminology of EU legislation and regulation and therefore suitable for further effective use using AI.

The Global Circularity Protocol for Business provides a practical step-by-step approach to framing, preparing, measuring, managing and communicating progress on circularity which strengthens material security and resilience of businesses. It includes standardized scopes, indicators and methodologies, builds on the Circular Transition Indicators (CTI), and can be applied at the level of materials, products and the whole company. The Czech translation therefore provides an important foundation for broader integration of circular economy principles into corporate strategy, management, reporting and investment decision-making in Czechia.

Czech BCSD, together with WBCSD, wants to start supporting the use of GCP in the Czech Republic in the second half of the year through awareness-raising events, training and practical tools. The importance of GCP will grow especially with the advent of digital product passports, in which reliable data and information on circulation will play a key role. In this regard, Czech BCSD will also follow up on the TAČR project “Ecodesign and digital product passports as tools for waste prevention and higher plastic recycling”, which focuses on supporting ecodesign and the implementation of digital product passports (DPP) in small and medium-sized enterprises, and in whose implementation it is significantly involved.

On 15 June 2026, the Czech BCSD published the Czech translation of the Global Circularity Protocol for Business (GCP) under the title „Globální protokol … Číst více

[577
