On 3 June 2026, the European Commission published the 2026 European Semester Spring Package, assessing economic developments and providing policy recommendations across all EU Member States (“Package”). The Package is available at this link.
The Package responds to a challenging environment marked by geopolitical tensions, climate risks, rising energy prices and cost-of-living pressures, and aims to strengthen competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy while maintaining fiscal sustainability.
To strengthen the EU’s competitiveness, the Commission calls on Member States to take action in several key areas, including:
- ensuring fiscal sustainability and macroeconomic stability
- boosting research and development investment and closing the innovation gap
- reducing Single Market barriers and administrative burdens
- promoting quality jobs and investing in skills and education
- combatting poverty and ensuring social inclusion
- addressing housing affordability challenges
- accelerating the green transition
The Package also includes country-specific recommendations contained in detailed country reports assessing economic and social developments and implementation progress of earlier reforms. For Czechia, the recommendations focus on maintaining sound public finances, advancing structural reforms, improving innovation capacity, and accelerating the green and digital transition, while addressing labour market and social challenges. The Country Report on Czechia is available at this link.
