On 3 September 2026, the European Commission’s announced on their Innovation Radar platform a structured overview of nearly 300 LIFE-funded innovation (“Platform“). They are showcasing solutions to environmental and climate challenges with strong potential for market scale-up. Of these, 113 are classified as market-ready, 81 have concrete market plans, 70 are in technology development and demonstration, and 31 are still exploring applications (“Platforma“). The platform aims to boost visibility of these innovations among investors, partners and potential users. The Platform is available at this link.
Several presented projects focus also on circular resource use. LIFE WEEELOOP is developing a system to recover materials from discarded kitchen hobs, aiming to reduce virgin raw material needs by up to 90%. Similarly, LIFE WOOD4PLASTIC converts wood residues into bio-based, compostable plastics for products like bags and food trays, expecting to avoid 59 tonnes of plastic waste during its 2024-2027 lifetime.
Other featured innovations target pollution and water management. LIFE ABATE is creating a compact system to cut volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from waste treatment plants, targeting 90-95% VOC removal rates by 2027 while reducing energy use and CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, LIFE WARRIOR has three innovations on the platform, including a low-energy process for reusing ultrafiltration membranes and a cost-effective approach to treating reclaimed water for agricultural irrigation.
Beyond platform visibility, selected innovators can access further opportunities, including showcasing at dedicated events and competing for the annual Innovation Radar Prize, where finalists pitch to investors and entrepreneurs.
