Czech BCSD, together with Net Zero Lab and FMT VŠB-TUO, submitted the only position paper from the Czech Republic in response to the public consultation “Waste – early warning system”.
Our reliance on imported raw materials is why the circular economy must be a cornerstone of Europe’s economic strategy. The EU’s competitiveness, resilience and security of raw material supply depend on it.
Waste is a key source of raw materials for the circular economy. To realise its potential, we need to make it possible to recover materials from waste and return them to production as high-quality secondary raw materials.
What stands in the way today? And what needs to change to make it economically worthwhile both to recover these materials and to use them?
These barriers are the focus of the joint position paper that Czech BCSD and NZL submitted in response to the public consultation “Waste – early warning system”. Drawing on first-hand experience, we highlight the obstacles that businesses face when putting the circular economy into practice.
We also need to measure success by how much material we actually return to the economy and how much primary raw material it replaces.
We support Czech businesses. We support Europe.
