What gaps exist in current European legislation governing plastic food packaging? Share your views and help identify areas for improvement.
European Plastics Converters (EuPC), the European association representing the plastics converting industry, is inviting national associations, public authorities and other relevant stakeholders to participate in a consultation as part of the European MAGNO project. The aim is to identify potential gaps in current EU standards and legislation concerning plastic food packaging.
The MAGNO Project Connects the Entire Value Chain
The MAGNO project, funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme under Cluster 6 (Grant Agreement No. 101135258), focuses on the entire food packaging value chain. It covers all key stages, from raw materials and packaging design to manufacturing, food safety and health protection, as well as end-of-life management and consumer information.
As part of the project, a series of stakeholder interviews and two workshops have already taken place, with representatives of the Association of Plastics Manufacturers and Processors (PLASTR), a national member of EuPC, also participating.
These activities resulted in a set of statements highlighting potential shortcomings in the current EU regulatory framework for plastic materials and packaging intended for food contact. The project is now gathering feedback from national authorities and associations across Europe to gain a broader understanding of their views on the issues raised.
Your Views Can Contribute to the European Debate
Relevant Czech institutions and associations are also invited to take part in the consultation. Their expertise and practical experience can help identify current regulatory challenges in the field of plastic food packaging and contribute to discussions about its future development.
Completing the questionnaire takes approximately five minutes.
