On 6 July 2026, EIT Urban Mobility announced the list of startups and small ad medium-sized enterprises selected for the RAPTOR (Rapid Applications for Transport) 2026 programme, under which 14 European cities will work with innovators to test solutions addressing locally identified mobility challenges in real urban environments. The RAPTOR programme is designed to help cities and startups co-create, validate and refine new approaches to mobility while accelerating the deployment of innovative technologies.
The selected projects span a broad range of urban mobility priorities, including electrification, active mobility, urban logistics, public transport optimisation, road safety and data-driven decision-making. By enabling real-world testing, participating cities can evaluate innovative solutions in practical settings, while startups gain opportunities to demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of their technologies.
Among the approved projects are initiatives to support electric vehicle charging infrastructure planning, improve public transport reliability through real-time data, enhance road safety for schoolchildren, increase the accessibility of EV charging points, and introduce data-driven parking management systems. Other pilots focus on reducing congestion and emissions through more efficient urban logistics and providing city authorities with new tools to monitor and manage transport networks.
According to EIT Urban Mobility, RAPTOR demonstrates the value of collaboration between cities and innovators in addressing local transport challenges. By combining city needs with entrepreneurial expertise and rapid testing, the programme aims to support the development of more sustainable, inclusive and resilient urban mobility systems across Europe while helping innovative solutions move more quickly from concept to implementation.
