On 24 September 2026, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and SG Equipment Finance Czech Republic (SGEF) announced a new financing agreement that will make €300 million available to businesses primarily in Czechia and Slovakia. Under the arrangement, the EIB will provide EUR 150 million, which SGEF will match, creating a funding package aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-cap companies.

The financing is intended to help businesses invest in modern equipment, technology, and transport assets, enabling them to improve productivity, strengthen competitiveness and support employment. At least 20% of the funding will be dedicated to climate and environmental projects, including investments in energy-efficient machinery, renewable energy systems, and zero-emission transport solutions.

Companies benefiting from the programme will have access to lower interest rates, longer repayment periods, and more flexible collateral requirements than are typically available through traditional lending. The initiative is also expected to support regional development, with 88% of the financing projected to be directed to EU cohesion regions in Czechia and Slovakia, where income levels are below the EU average.
