At the CEE Sustainable Summit, held on 16 September 2026, Hana Libecajtová, Member of the Czech BCSD Presidium, and Lenka Mynářová, Head of the Circular Economy Working Group, presented the current approach to collecting and sharing Scope 3 emissions data and supporting companies in managing this data.

The key message of their presentation was that Scope 3 is not only a reporting issue, but above all a matter of data infrastructure and collaboration across the entire value chain. Large companies and financial institutions need high-quality data from their suppliers, while small and medium-sized companies are often faced with numerous questionnaires and data requests.

A potential solution is the VS framework and its practical implementation through the ESG Data Hub, which is being developed as a pilot project by Czech BCSD and ČEZ. The principle is simple: a company provides structured ESG data once and can then securely share it with multiple authorised business partners and financial institutions.

The aim is to reduce the administrative burden, particularly for smaller companies, improve the quality and comparability of data, and enable its repeated use. An important part of the system is also ensuring that companies retain control over who can access their data and for what purpose.

The presentation also included a demonstration of the ČEZ pilot project, which will gradually be tested with different groups of companies. The pilot will primarily assess the usability of the solution, data availability, calculation logic, and the practical value of the resulting information.

The ambition of the project is to gradually create an interoperable foundation not only for the Czech Republic, but for a broader European ESG data ecosystem. Standardisation can reduce the number of duplicate data requests, digital infrastructure can enable the secure reuse of data, and cross-sector collaboration can help further develop and scale the model.
