On 30 July 2026, the European Commission launched a call for proposals to establish up to seven AI Gigafactories across Europe. The initiative forms part of the AI Continent Action Plan and is intended to strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty and leadership in artificial intelligence. The programme will be supported by up to EUR 10 billion in EU and national public funding and is expected to unlock more than EUR 30 billion in overall investment. The facilities will provide advanced computing infrastructure for start-ups, research organisations, industry and public authorities.

The Gigafactories will combine advanced processors, software, cloud technology, high-speed connectivity and energy-efficient data centres. Together with Europe’s network of 19 AI Factories, they aim to accelerate the development of advanced AI models and applications aligned with EU values and regulations.

The call is open to consortia bringing together companies, public bodies and investors. Czechia is among the participating Member States supporting the joint procurement process.
