On 30 August 2026, the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development (“Czech BCSD“) has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of the Environment setting out the priorities of the Government Council for Sustainable Development (“RVUR“) for 2026–2027 (“Proposal“). Responding to an invitation from the Minister of the Environment and Chair of the RVUR, the proposal identifies three interconnected areas: establishing a publicly accessible national system of climate, environmental and social data; developing modern sustainable finance instruments; and preparing the Czech position on the international sustainable development agenda beyond 2030. Particular emphasis is placed on creating a national catalogue of emission factors for greenhouse gas reporting under the GHG Protocol and an integrated digital database that can be used by public authorities, businesses, investors, financial institutions and local governments.

Czech BCSD also recommends developing financial instruments that combine public and private resources, including bank guarantees, preferential loans, revolving funds and bond programmes supporting investments in decarbonisation, the circular economy, water management and other strategic areas. The post-2030 agenda should be based on a limited number of measurable priorities, linked to public budgets and financial instruments, and should focus on evaluating actual outcomes and impacts.

To support implementation, the Czech BCSD proposes establishing thematic expert working groups responsible for preparing analytical materials, proposed measures and recommendations for the RVUR plenary, which would meet three times a year.
