On 30 June 2026, the Greenhouse Gas Protocol released the Land Sector and Removals Guidance (“LSRG”), a companion resource to the Land Sector and Removals Standard(“LSRS), which provides companies greater detail on how to account and report greenhouse gas emissions and CO₂ removals from agricultural land use and emerging CO₂ removal technologies. The LSRG is available at this link.
The LSRG supports corporate implementation of the LSRS – which outlines the accounting and reporting requirements, recommendations and options – through worked examples, equations and calculation guidance. It features 10 corporate case studies, from companies including Mars, PepsiCo, and General Mills, to showcase practical application across topics.
