How can you prepare for changes in public procurement from a sustainability perspective? Czech BCSD provides an overview of the practical implications of the proposed European regulation on public procurement and concessions (Public Procurement Act). The document presents two sets of ten recommendations – one for Czech contracting authorities and the other for suppliers.

For contracting authorities, it focuses on updating internal guidelines, assessing the price-quality ratio, verifying environmental claims and monitoring supply chains. For suppliers, it highlights the importance of measurable sustainability data, digital product passports, the circular economy and life-cycle costs.

A common theme is the emphasis on verifiable data, quality and responsible contract performance. Early preparation can help businesses strengthen their competitiveness and enable contracting authorities to better account for the environmental and social benefits of the products and services they procure.

The material is based on an analysis of the proposal as of 9 September 2026 and provides recommendations for preparing for the proposed changes.
