The European Commission has published the results of the First Call of the Public Sector Loan Facility (PSLF), the third pillar of the Just Transition Mechanism. The results confirm that Czech projects were among the most successful in the entire EU, both in terms of the number of approved projects and their readiness and quality. Detailed information can be found here and here.
Under the first call, 19 grant agreements were signed across six Member States, including the Czech Republic, by the end of 2025, with a total grant amount of EUR 210 million. These projects are complemented by loans from the European Investment Bank and other sources of financing. At the same time, another 19 projects were selected at the end of 2025 and are currently in the grant agreement preparation phase, including projects from the Czech Republic.
Supported projects focus on key areas for the just transformation of the regions most affected by the transition to a climate-neutral economy, in particular sustainable mobility, social infrastructure, territorial renewal, energy efficiency and the modernisation of public infrastructure. The Czech Republic has made significant progress, particularly in projects focused on transport infrastructure and public facilities in regions included in the territorial plans for just transition.
The European Council recalled that the PSLF remains a key instrument for supporting public investment in the most affected regions and confirmed that the second call for the PSLF is open with additional dates in 2026–2027. The aim is to further strengthen the capacity of the public sector to prepare quality projects and ensure that no region is left behind in the transition to climate neutrality.
Detailed information is available at this link. The success of Czech projects on an EU scale is due, among other things, to the results of the technical assistance project “Support to Czech authorities in improving their ability to implement projects under Pillar III of the Just Transition Mechanism”, implemented by PwC in 2023–2024.
