What if construction waste wasn’t waste at all, but a valuable resource?
This is the question at the heart of the RECONMATIC Final Conference, “From Waste to Value: Digital and Automated Solutions for Circular Construction,” taking place on 27–28 May 2026 in Prague and online.
After four years of research, testing and collaboration across Europe and beyond, the RECONMATIC project is ready to share its results and open up the conversation on what comes next.
The conference will bring together researchers, industry professionals, policymakers and innovators to explore how digital tools and automation can fundamentally change the way we design, build, deconstruct and reuse.
Across two days, the agenda will move from big-picture thinking to hands-on solutions. Discussions will focus on how to reduce construction and demolition (C&D) waste at the source, how to better manage materials throughout a building’s life cycle, and how technologies like BIM, AI and robotics can make circular construction a practical reality, not just a concept.
“What makes RECONMATIC truly valuable is the way it brings together different expertise – from research to industry – to address a shared challenge. This conference reflects that collective effort and the importance of working together to move the sector forward.” – Jan Valentin, RECONMATIC coordinator.
Participants will get a closer look at:
- Digital tools that help prevent waste before it’s created
- Automated solutions for deconstruction and end-of-life buildings
- Smart systems for sorting, tracking and reusing materials
- Life-cycle management approaches that connect all stakeholders
- Training courses designed to support the transition to circular construction
A special contribution will come from the Circular DigiBuild project, which will share its experience in building innovation strategies across the Danube region.
“Circular DigiBuild is proud to contribute to this conference and share our perspective from across the Danube region. Collaboration across ecosystems is essential if we want to scale circular and digital solutions in construction.” – Jana Vítková, INCIEN
The event is co-organised by RECONMATIC together with Circular DigiBuild, the Circular Construction Cluster, Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT), INCIEN and Future Needs.
The conference will take place in a hybrid format. Attendance in Prague will be by invitation, while the online event will be open to anyone interested in the future of circular construction.
Beyond presenting results, the final conference is about connecting ideas, people and solutions. It is an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved – and to explore how these innovations can move from pilot projects into everyday practice.
RECONMATIC is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation project focused on developing automated solutions for sustainable construction and demolition waste management. By combining digital information systems, AI-supported decision-making, and robotic technologies, the project addresses the entire life cycle of construction materials – from design to reuse.
With 23 partners across Europe, the United Kingdom and China, RECONMATIC has worked to turn circular construction from ambition into action.
