On 11 September 2026, the Czech Chamber of Deputies approved the Product Ecodesign Act (“Act“). The Act establishes the Czech framework for applying the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation and introduces digital product passports (“DPP“) into Czech laws and Regulations. The wording of the adopted Act is available at this link.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade serves as the single contact point. The Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing handles the notification of conformity assessment bodies. Competent authorities supervise products within their respective areas of responsibility.

Manufacturers and importers must provide the required product information and digital instructions in Czech via DPP. Manufacturers must also provide the EU declaration of conformity in Czech. Before supplying a product, distributors must check that the required information and instructions are available in Czech.

The Act defines offences and penalties for breaches of obligations, including those concerning DPP and unsold consumer products. Destroying certain unsold products may result in a fine of up to CZK 20 million.

The draft Act will now be forwarded to the Senate of the Czech Republic as part of the legislative process. Under the draft, the Act should take effect on the day after its publication.
