Powerpoint presentation from the 2023 meeting

Preamble of the Working Group

The Circular Economy Working Group responds to current trends and needs of green transition of companies and the whole economy. Without the circular economy, the necessary changes in business models cannot be achieved, nor can decarbonisation be accomplished. Companies are facing major challenges related to the implementation of CSRD/ESRS in corporate practice, the EU Taxonomy, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation/PPWR/, the Ecodesign Regulation and many others. These new pieces of legislation represent a disruption and require fundamental changes in the way companies do business.

The time for implementation is short, so maximum attention must be paid to examples of good practice, experience sharing and collaboration.

Objectives of the Working Group

The aim of the Circular Economy Working Group is to create a platform dealing with concrete experiences and recommendations in the field of implementation of circular economy principles in companies, quantification of benefits of circular economy in companies, KPI’s of circularity. Within the working group, a group of sector experts – specialists in key areas – is also being formed.

The activities of the platform include the creation and sharing of best practices, industry expertise and experience and the transfer of WBCSD global know-how to the Czech environment.

Areas and topics

In March 2024, a survey was carried out among the platform members on their needs and expectations from the PS. Based on this survey, we have created the following group of topics:

Topic 1 – application of new legislation

  • Transposition of the amendments into Czech law and related issues
  • Implementation of EU-wide regulations and delegated acts
  • Practical problems in terms of application

Topic 2 – implementation of circularity in company processes

  • Relation in particular to CSRD/ESRS, Ecodesign Regulation
  • Recommended practices (e.g. CTI v.4.0, RecyClass, etc.)

Topic 3 – Best Practices

  • Sharing examples of good practice

Topic 4 – Digitising Circulation

  • Digital product passports, transparency and verifiability requirements
  • Creating a data base for ESRS datapoints/circulation indicators
