“500 000 Uyghur children have been taken away from their parents. It makes my blood boil,” says Rahima Mahmut, Uyghur human rights activist.
Forced sterilization, forced birth control, transportation of Uyghurs to Mainland China, organ harvesting, forced labour – you name it. Chinese regime, thanks to its economic power, is just too confident that no country would stand up against them. Democratic countries have the opportunity to stop all these atrocities either through diplomatic channels or by sanctioning. They need to unite and take action which would actually work and hurt China, stresses Rahima Mahmut, who currently leads the UK project for the World Uyghur Congress.
